Well, after what seemed like a long wait (it wasn’t really, but, you know how it is waiting for new toys to show up…) our new tractor has arrived! My brother-in-law Chuck was kind enough to roll over to Pembroke to go pick it up for me and bring it back to the farm. Thanks Chuck!
I’d spent quite a bit of time researching options for a compact tractor that had all the features we wanted without feeling like it was also going to break the bank. Also, John Deere wasn’t an option, lest I risk being excommunicated by the family and no longer invited over for the holidays (we don’t buy green farm equipment!). Anyway, the LS brand is manufactured in Korea, is relatively cost effective, gets consistently good reviews, has a 6 year powertrain warranty, and includes a lot of features that you’d pay extra for in other brands, so it wasn’t a terribly hard decision. One thing that did hurt a bit was having to pay an extra $2,500 for the newly imposed tariff, but what are you going to do, right? Not buy anything?
If you’re interested in the LS tractor model we purchased, it’s an MT347HC, and you can find it here. It’s got 47HP, hydrostatic transmission, and a cab (which is what the 47HC stands for, respectively).
I’d also like to give a special thanks to the good folks over at Fairview Farm Center in Pembroke, KY. They took really good care of me, answered all my questions, and made the purchase really easy. We even handled the entire transaction electronically, which was nice and really went above and beyond, I thought. Anyway, if you’re in the market for a new piece of farm equipment I’d highly recommend them. You can find them here: fairviewfarmcenter.net. Ask for Jonathan Nolt, he’ll take good care of you.
Alright, first job… gotta go out and drag the pastures and get ready to reseed!
Until next time…!
